The StowIT mount was introduced in 1976 and patented in 1978 by Holly Enterprises Inc for mounting a CB antenna on a car. The mount bolts onto the hinge of an automobile trunk lid so that when the trunk lid is closed, only the antenna and one end portion of the bracket is outside.
The idea was to be able to mount a Ham/ CB antenna and then to place it out of sight when not being used, to prevent theft; hence the name Stowit.
Can be used on most domestic and many foreign made cars, using either a trunk or roof mount antenna.
It is easily assembled and installed, with instructions and hardware included.
The bracket assembly is actually four pieces that pivot, so that the antenna can be concealed in the trunk without having to be dismantled, depending of course, on the length of the antenna and the size of the trunk.
These StowIT mounts are brand new, but old stock.
